THROAT CHAKRA

Updated: Nov 11, 2023

DESCRIPTION

In Sanskrit, the Throat Chakra is known as Vishudda which means "Especially Pure".

Mantra: Ham. I Speak...

Color: Blue

Location: The base of the throat.

Function: Speaking your truth. Using negative life experiences to obtain learning and wisdom. This Chakra is often blocked by guilt.

Balanced: Able to communicate clearly and honestly no matter what in a calm and controlled tone. Ability to listen as much as you talk.

Overactive: An overactive Throat Chakra talks out of turn, over others, in a loud, rude, or malicious tone. Twists innocent comments into intentional negativity often to the point of verbal abuse. Loud shouting, swearing, lying, and gossiping.

Blocked: A blocked Throat Chakra can not speak up its truth even when it is necessary. Can not express its expectations, needs, or desires. Low self-esteem.

Anatomy: Thyroid, trachea, throat, neck, mouth, tongue, jaw, larynx, and vocal cords.

Element: Sound

Oils/Scents: Frankincense, jasmine, rose, sandalwood, and ylang-ylang.

Herbs: Blueberries, black olives, rosemary, and thyme.

Associated Deadly Sin: Wrath

Foods/Drinks: Water, fruit juice, and herbal teas. Blueberries, blackberries, and wheatgrass.

TODAYS' MEDITATION: I prefer to meditate as soon as I wake up. First, drink a nice glass of water and blow your nose. Then sit in the Sukhasana pose, which is Indian style making sure your spine is straight (Head over heart, heart over hips). We are now going to do Nadi Sodhana (opposite nostrils breathing). Take your thumb and plug your left nostril, breathe in, switch your pinky to cover your right nostril while releasing your thumb from your left nostril, breathe out, and repeat for a total of four rounds.

Next, we go to YouTube and put on our favorite guided Throat Chakra meditation. My personal favorite is called Chants for Throat Chakra Healing by Meditative Mind. If you can find it they have one for each of the seven Chakras, find all seven and save them.

TODAYS' YOGA POSES:

The very first thing I recommend is talking to your doctor to be sure that you are healthy enough for this or for any exercise regimen before you start.

The second step is to look up the exact correct ways to do each pose. I recommend a site called Yoga Journal.

Each week I will pick three poses per Chakra. Try to hold each pose as long as you can and do not forget to breathe. For today

  1. Sukhasana while going "hahaaaaaa" on the exhale.

  2. Simhasana while going "hahaaaaa" on the exhale.

  3. Shavasana

If you want to do an entire yoga sequence I recommend YouTubing "yoga with Adrienne". She is amazing.

CHAKRA CARD:

I use the set called Chakra Oracle Wisdom Cards by Tori Hartman. I continuously recommend that each of you get your own set with the book. There are legends in the book that go with each card that will help you better understand the lesson behind each card. I use a basic sentence of hers to get to the basic point. But trust me, these cards go much deeper and you will thank yourself later for the investment.
